Is it worth the effort?

Question? Is it worth the educational effort to post any forearms on this forum? Not being critical in any way, but still left wondering.
A very nice medal or uniform item will get 10 replies and a really nice gun will get 2 replies. Is it worth the effort to post firearms to further education of the firearms used?

YES!!!! If we don't.....we don't build up this part of the forum. So I think it is worth the effort to try.

I wish I could post more but a) I don't have too many and b) I've already posted them all and c) I don't foresee adding any more in the near future (unless someone could find me a nice WW2 1911 or Luger

)

If you receive any pleasure out of educating others, and helping to prevent the less knowledgeable from getting ripped off, I say yes!

I post many nice, (IMO), original items, with good clear photos, and sometimes get hardly any replies. Yet, a rusty relic of a helmet, or a beat up repro cap will get pages of posts.
I will continue to post my new items as a reference for others, even though most new members don't even look on their own.

Definitely a 'yes' from me !

Personally, I seem to collect things which maybe aren't so 'popular' as helmets, medals and badges so I for one am always on the lookout for threads about firearms, armoured vehicle relics, ordnance and so on.

This Forum is an excellent source of information for collectors - I frequently use the 'search' facility and many of the most useful postings may only have one or two replies. Quantity of responses doesn't necessarily mean a lack of quality in the original posting.....

I don't collect firearms for a number of reasons, but i appreciate the effort people put in to the forum with them.
So i commend you for your posts, even if i don't interact with that part of the forum.

I have this problem aswell. I can spend hours researching a piece of ordnance. And only get less than 20 people view the thread. I keep posting ordnance since there is a few that do regularly have a look (and i really appreciate them!) but i feel its completely pointless sometimes.

It certainly IS worth the effort John. But you know, the lack of replies does not necessarily apply just to firearms. With hand on heart, can anyone honestly say that they regularly look at threads which are of no interest to them? As a rule, firearms usually get a very good response, and every gun I have posted over the past 12 months has had quite a few replies. If you want to pick a topic which usually attracts very little response you would not go far wrong with anything related to the DDR period of German history, and I am sure that other collectors of other periods of history probably feel the same about their preferences too. Whatever I post on the forum I always make a point of posting a very good selection of illustrations for the benefit of the odd soul that might be remotely interested in it. The biggest problem on the forum is not so much the lack of response to posts, but more so the endless postings from people asking questions about what they have just purchased. Doesn't anyone try and do a little research by themselves these day's? They have a wealth of information at their finger tips if they just took the time to search the internet, but no... they want others to do it for them. How on earth do they think we managed to source information before the advent of the internet?

Yes across the board !!

Every little bit counts.

Take into consideration large tents for what ever means held up with large wooden poles and wires...yet without tent pegs..the tent could not stand nor would the cause be satisfied.

I appreciate the replies. I am happy to see an interest in the gun forum. I would like to see this forum maintain an interest in firearms. I think they add to the all of the other nice items that get posted. I There are so many specialty forums that a person could post the same gun on many forums to get information.
