    Default 1855 Lancaster bayonet

greetings all , here`s another one of my favourites , a nice looker and quite scarce . It`s an 1855 Lancaster bayonet and unfortunately one of the previous owners took leave of his senses and took a hammer to the cross guard and bent one end round at 90 degrees ( why ? i don`t know ! ) ! Unfortunately i have no scabbard with it . It is also unusual in that it`s fittings are made of brass , as would be the fittings on the scabbard , and also a chequered leather grip , and a long slender pipe backed blade . It was made to fit the Lancaster carbine , and many of these were later issued to the MSC or Medical Staff Corps ( later the RAMC ) as a sidearm ,
