This is my latest acquisition, a menu for the officers of the 5th battalion Sherwood Foresters at their Christmas dinner in 1914
I have a similar menu from 1917 , for 185th Cape Breton Highlanders .
"Poached Hare Soup"....I have to wonder how tired the servers were that day of hearing "I say! Waiter! There's a Hare in my soup!". I'm betting they were ready to kill someone at the end of the day...
