Boer War Australian Mounted Rifles Pics
You dont have a section for pre WW1 stuff so Id thought id post them here , if of Interest to Anyone.
They are Steriograph cards dated 1900-02 .
They were very popular for entertainment in the late 1800s - early 1900's to look at through a hand held viewer to get the 3D effect. 7"wide x 3 1/2" high.
I find them truely wonderful to look at , at 110+ years old and in perfect condition , gives a rare insight into things back then.
I have a few in my collection:
Coldstream Company
Royal Munster Fussiliers
Lord Roberts Army
Boer Prisoners
Cape Garrison Artillery
Various Battlefield Action Photos.
One of the things that strikes me about these photocards, is the bravery of the photographer to shoot them in actual battle , and the care and compassion for the wounded and dying , man or beast.
If anyone wishes to see anymore let me know ,Im happy to share as these are super rare , and something different , a great insight into something rarely seen.
