    This may be my last purchase for a while as Iv'e just found out I have been made redundant Its bit of a selection including two Christmas 1914 tobacco tins, one of which still has the original tobacco and cigarette's. There are also accompanying medals. It comes from an old friend who knows Iv'e had my eye on it for a while.

    I "fell" on this group about 18 months back ..
    It was residing in a tobacco tin in an engineering workshop !!

    ... Boer War with the South Staffs, re-enlisted WW1 with the HLI.

    The MM / Belgian CDG was for the 3rd Battle of Ypres ...
    Then he was busted down from Sgt ...
    .. And later, the soldier was taken POW, dying in captivity in Oct 1918.
    (Buried in Hamburg.)

    On his MIC, his VM for some reason was "returned to barracks"

    "Redundant" sounds too personal,,here is the States we call it "being laid off". Great group and good luck on finding a new job!
