This badge caught my eye and I had to buy it, I’ve since found out it’s not a one off, someone somewhere must have been advertising an enamelling service and it probably wasn’t cheap either.
This silver war badge belonged to 57432 Gnr. Horace Henry Allibone who enlisted 21/10/15 and is entitled to the British War and Victory medals, he served in 120 Siege Battery Royal Garrison Artillery.
Horace came from Birmingham and was wounded by a shell wound to the head during 3rd Ypres, his unit was attached to 22nd Heavy Artillery Group, 1st Anzac Corps and positioned between Hellfire Corner and Railway Wood just outside of Ypres. He was discharged a few months later on 1/1/1918 and lived on till 1963.
