Just looking for the makers of this sword.
I believe it's a 1827 Pattern Rifle Regiment Officers Sword.
Issued to the Sydney Mines Volunteers in 1850's blade is misspelled with Sidney Volunteers. It's always been in my family, I have his hat, some military books and his spyglass. I have put the hat on Loan to a local military museum.
Thanks for looking.Family SwordFamily SwordFamily SwordFamily Sword

That is a great piece of family history

As you most likely already know , "HEBBERT & Co. is the retailer. I'll work more on the Proved plug tomorrow at work. There are 8 makers that have that six pointed star and that proved plug. I have to go through them and zoom in to make the call and at work I have dual screens that I can pull up, zoom in and compare them.

I got your addy and will send pic's to there for you to see if I found the match.

That is an awesome sword Chris!!!!

Here's a photo of the cap, which I believe is rarer then the sword.

A couple of very nice family history items there. The shako is particularly impressive. Is that Sydney as in Sydney Australia?

I've consulted my favourite online sword resource [oldswords.com]

Hebbert & Co used the 8 Pall Mall East between 1850 and 1864.

I think the proof slug may indicate Charles Reeves of Birmingham who supplied swords to a number of London military outfitters.

    Hello Richie.
That is also one of my favorite sites to do research. Could you take a look at the 10th sword down in the Fleur de Lys below PROVED - Brass section or the Sword Proof Marks and look at the maker Pulford and his PROVED plug and let me know what you think. I thought it more a match with what Chris had posted and also this pic he sent me of his plug in day light. I also sent Chris a pic of the Reeves plug to compare and I guess it will be his call to which matches better. I'm glad to know that others are also working this issue for Chris
