    Hi Paul,

Nice item. Many of the Commanders issued letters like this to the troops throughout the war when they were relinquishing command. They liked to show their thanks to those who served under them. It was a nice personal touch to the men!

    Cheers,
    Steve.

Very good to see this surviving in an original copy from one of those who were there. As already stated such letters were commonly issued when commanders moved on and I have one I downloaded as part of the war diary of the 10th Bn RWF.

What i find amazing is that Brigadier General Hussey refers to all these terrible battles as "a happy memory of those days" wow that really brings home the differance between those at the front & those organising this mass murder.regards Paul
