The last three letters appear to be "KIR", I can't think of any other RN ships name that ends thus....

Sorry to revisit my old thread Ned, but Ive just come across the photo again whilst having a bit of a sort out. and thought id have another crack at it. Im not convinced on HMS ABOUKIR, the last few letters look to me to be KER, I wondered if it was HMS WALKER??
