I would say French manufactured helmet, the Italians used French helmets until they produced their own version which is different to this model.

Who used it after it was made we will never know.

These M15's, without frontal orifices, were also sold to The Netherlands. A batch of 10.000 pcs in 1917.

They were rejected as inadequate. Due to the slow start of Dutch helmet production they were adopted as a temporary measure. After about 1925 they were handed down to Volunteer Civic Guards, Civil Defense and Police units. Most were repainted in dark green of black.

This helmet might have a Dutch heritage, although we will never know for sure.

    Cheers,
    Emile

I wanted to check my books before replying and it confirmed that the Italians purchased French M15s before designing their own M15 helmet which was a two piece helmet. The initial batch was standard French helmet with infantry badge, the second had no holes stamped.
