Nice piece. No finnish left, but what do you expect for a 100 year old gun. How is the bore in it??
It is an honest 1911 that has not been monkeyed with.
It will make a great addition to your WWI collection.

The bore is very good, apparently the black army colt lost most of their finish pretty quickly.

WOW! that bore looks great. My guess is this had a replacement barrel sometime in it's life.
    Not uncommon for these 45's.

The barrel has the correct intertwined HP use in this very specific late war SN/date range so its the correct late wwi barrel for it . Also it was not reworked after the war and still retains the original finish inside the frame & slide and under the grips.

Even with the all finish gone and worn original grips
I really like it and would be pleased to own this.
Nice thing is - you can shoot it.

As John said, it's an honest piece that has not
    been monkeyed with. Congrats.........!

I can't make out the serial # or markings, But would this be one of the Black's that made it down to Mexico with Gen. John "Blackjack" Pershing??
I would love to own it!!
Thanks for sharing it with us.

A great piece. They have such a wonderful appeal. I wouldn't trade my WWI Colt 1911 for anything; I know because I have been offered some nice items for mine, even SS items.
