Which regiment.

Article about: Photo is not of the best quality, but it is definitely a British hussar regiment, with the period likely 1880's-90's. Not from the Crimean War period. If the color of the busby bag is indeed

Thanks for that. What years were the crimean War. The picture is of my gt.grandfather and he wasn't born until 1886 in Ireland. I wondered if the uniform could be the irish hussars ?? What other Irish cavalry regiments were there?

the crimean war was 1853 to 1856 so it must be a bit later than that if he was born in 1886 it must have been taken around 1910 ish give or take a couple of years
it could poss be some kind of mess dress or home service uniform

It's probably Royal Hussars but the unclear collar insignia is difficult to identify. However, the types of Royal Irish Hussars insignia I've seen a crowned (or crown and lion) circular badge and this appears to be the syle worn in the image.

For example, see The Queen's Royal Hussars (The Queen's Own and Royal Irish)

    Hi, Me again.
Is there any chance it could be The Royal Munster Fusiliers ? I've just found some WW1 records on that match up with the man in the picture. He was in the Royal Munster Fusiliers !!!!
