WW1 Brodie

Hey there everyone,

What are your thoughts on this world war 1 Canadian brodie helmet? It belonged to the sellers great Uncle, who was in the Canadian medical corps. Everything looks good to me, I like how the chinstrap is there. The wool doughnut pad is missing, I believe.

Seller is asking $50, is this a reasonable price?

I'm thinking it's a US brodie - Not unusual to see Canadian Divisional marked
American made helmets ( though this one is plain ). $50 is about half
to one third it's value - a good deal.........!

I agree with Steve-a Very nice helmet for an exceptional price. The liner is in particularly good shape for nearly 100 years old leather.

Thanks for the quick response! I always thought that split rivets meant british manufacture? Although hard to see, the pictures show this helmet has split rivets. Please, correct me if i'm wrong. Would being british change the value?

Last year, I didn't have the funds to buy a beauty Canadian division marked brodie with liner and chinstreap for $95... 97th infantry battalion I believe.
Still kicking myself over that one, as it was even attributed to the sellers great uncle... ugh. Perhaps this will make up for it :P

Without a doubt an amazing deal. Split rivets are usually a sign of a British helmet, it may have more specific manufacturer's marks under the rim. I'd go for it.

Hi Quinn. With split rivets it is indeed a British lid - couldn't tell from
first glance. I think the prices are about the same for unmarked
helmets, although you do know who it belonged to and that
could affect value somewhat.

I'd be all over this helmet for that price.........!

That is a unbelievible price for a lid nearly 100 years young,here in the UK they sell for $150 upwards,nicely preserved piece of history,regards minnie

It's a steel for that price....GRAB IT QUICK!!! And as others have stated, it's 100% brit, split rivet and that little doughnut thingy.......
