No tags left, pocket is quite battered.

pretty hard to say as RN items didn't change for the better part of 60 years, aside of crowns. The material quality and nap suggests late 1930's to me. Earlier wool seems have more weight to it and a slightly coarser nap. These were not used much during the war and again not until well into peace time when more proper occasions to wear it began to occur again and the navy was a much smaller force. Formal wear does not attract strong prices as it is fairly easy to find as it all seems to have been cherished, and the only action they saw was at the levee buffet line.
