    Default WW1 Medals Found

I was given these by a colleague at work the other day, he found them in the loft of a relative’s house. They were issued to his Grandfather, who was in the tank corp.

His grandfather’s name was ‘Edward Arthur Johnston’- service number 307113

I have seen that there are some websites that offer ww1 medal cards etc, but i am unsure where to start looking for service records etc?
Any info or advice offered would be most welcomed.

    Many Thanks
    Jimbo.

Hi Jimbo, they are really very very nice. Being Tank Corps adds a bit of a premium value wise I think.

Looking for records of a British army soldier after 1913 | The National Archives

    Cheers, Ade.

PS to BOP: the medals are the Victory Medal and the British War Medal.

WW1 Medals FoundThanks for all your comments, much appreciated.
I have just purchased the medal card off of the archives website, looks quite interesting.
Does anyone know if the numbers etc on the card are of any relevance at all?
    Thanks

Hi Jimbo, glad you bought the roll index card entry. All adds to the history of the group.

The numbers are what it says: the actual roll reference number and page number. "do" stands for "Ditto". Not really very intersting in themselves.

    Cheers, Ade.

Hi Ade, thanks for your replies.
I think i will have to consider joining that ancestry.co.uk site, and purchase that service record (should be the correct one).
What sort of details do the records usually contain?
    Thanks
    Jimbo
