Hi Steven, these are not WW1. First World War era collar dogs are flat and are bronze, almost black, in colour and feature a screwback fitting. But the WW1 style tank continued in use as the emblem of the Armoured forces. These are later issue and date from the late 1940's or early 1950's and are of course for US Army enlisted men/NCO's.

MrFaulker very nice collar disk they were made before 1950 as Ade and Chris have stated. In 1950 the insignia changed from a side view of a Mark VIII tank to a front view of a M-26 tank superimposed over crossed cavalry sabers. Also it was very common for GI's to dome the collar disk to make the uniform a little more personal for when they went out on the town. also the clutch fastener was made after 1947 hope this helps.
