    What makes me wonder, are the flanking Shamrocks, which would in all likelihood signify an Irish unit-and a Royal one as well, as shown by the Crown above. However, as far as I know, there were no organized Irish units that fought at Verdun. In fact, they fought just about everywhere else But at Verdun, which was pretty much a French battle. It is not a cap badge of any unit that I am knowing. Having said that...I think it's an Excellent little pin and wouldn't mind having one like it myself! Definitely interesting!
