WWI ? Civil Defense Helmet

Looking for a little help. Were WWI helmets reissued for WWII era Civil Defense use? If not, what exactly have I stumbled across here?

The CD logo is from 1939 http://www.nytimes.com/2006/12/01/wa...ivil.html?_r=0, so would mean these helmets were issued during WWII. I've seen others but they have all been white.

I don't know much abut the CD structure, I would think either early issue Nice painted badge on the front.

Great helmet! I have one as well, seems like quite a few were made before or with the more common CD helmet. Mines stamped ZC238
