    Hi John,

    always great to see family items, these fabric cards are not something I own any of, but I have always thought they are really typical of the period. He obviously loved his wife.

    WWI period postcardsthanks jerry, the second pic shows my grandparents after grandfather was discharged in 1920, he lost his right leg below the knee in October 1918, grandfather passed away in 1947, his death certificate states wounds received during the great war as a contributing factor in his death.

    Part of the tobacco fund where people made donations to send cigarettes and tobacco to the front line troops during WWI. The card is the reply from the front line to a local newspaper editor in my home town of Cardiff. I have never seen a reply card before and to get one from my home town is a real bonus. In the first post of this thread is the more typical example that was sold to raise money to buy the tobacco products to send to the troops with the illustration by the same artist.
