    Hi guys,

This was a present from my best friend. I have always wanted one of these, but, like the wound badge in black, I just never got around to buying one. This one is exactly how I like them- complete, original, and salty!

Is there any info that can be obtained from the heat stamp?

    Thanks,
    Mo

Very nice indeed, the paint and finish is exactly that of the later M1's.
The "Z" means it was made in America, the "D" is the manufacturer. I think the jury is out as to who that was. A lot of helmets used at the time were British made, they were sold to the States until the American manufacturers were able to supply domestic demand.
