WWI US Helmet Shell?

Article about: Picked up this shell for \\$5.00 recently...it's marked 18C...I'm assuming it's WWI US...any input appreciated, friends... cheers, Glenn

    Thanks, Gunny...as you know by now I'm a German collector and this is out of my field of study...as this is now identified as a post-WWI helmet, I guess I can assume it was used in the 1930s-early WWII by the US...A decent item for display and potential trade...

    This will always be known as the Wake Island/Pearl Harbour Helmet,regardless of its technical term,glad to of helped out Glenn..............
