Default Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse im Etui

This one is a fairly recent arrival. I thought it is interesting due to the case. I believe it to be a non-official case that may have been available for commercial/retail purchase. The ribbon has a couple stitches in the center, indicating it has never been unfolded. Any specialists that want to help me identify the maker of the cross, it would be greatly appreciated. I haven't opened the books to identify it yet. Thanks in advance!

    Very nice Todd!
I like the case, but I don't know a real one from a fake one.
You have to have a lot of faith, or know what you are buying when it comes to these.
From what little I know, I believe this one looks good.
Can't help with the cross though.

Thank-you for the kind words Ralph.
I am no expert on cases either. I go off of the known good ones already in my collection to form my impressions.
I believe it to be period, but not an official LDO example. I purchased it with that mindset. Perhaps a member with deeper knowledge will be able to chime in. I am probably going to post it on WAF as well to reach a wider knowledge base, although I share on there less often these days.

This cross is Paulmann & Crone PKZ 86. Check if the cross is magnetic or not.

Thanks Robert! Since you pointed me in the right direction, I did a little reading. One source states supposedly a Paulmann and Crone should have a zinc core, but another source shows one with an iron core. The one in this cross is magnetic. It does match with a couple other Paulmann and Crone characteristics according to the examples I just referenced.

Beautiful Set, Congratulations on such a Fine Score! I like the case as well, as the reproduction cases generally have noticeably sharp corners while yours has the correct rounded corners...

Thanks Glenn! I got positive feedback on the case over on WAF by one of the moderators (Jelle) who I know from observing his posts to be knowledgeable and well-adjusted.
He wrote: "I follow the seller (he agrees with the seller) that the case is a period, private purchase example. The quality is really good. I recall seeing similar examples. It shares features with other Third Reich era cases."

His expertise jives with my "vibe" about the case. I have WWI and WWII cases here and I bought it because I thought the seller's description was probably right.

This cross (with its own frame and its own core) comes in two versions with a magnetic and non-magnetic core. There is also a version with its own core but with an S&L design frame and the core is also non-magnetic.
