On page 265 of the Maerz/Alt book there is a cross identified by the authors as Eugen Schmiedehäusler's cross with the number PKZ 28. I looked for it, bought it and this is how the cross looks in reality.

Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
80% of manufacturers relied on the S&L design. The products (crosses) differ only in defects formed in the dies due to their use or the shape of the cutting dies . I have not encountered among other manufacturers, cross with defects frame like this one. And on top of that the so-called pebble core (as in early Brehmer).

Here's a set I found earlier this year.
I'll have to keep my eyes open for one of these. The flaws are very distinctive.
