I agree genuine. It has characteristics like the one from Katz & Deyhle (page 202-203 Book Mario Alt) Because the inner sides are rounded on both sides (front and back). But wait for more opinions

it does look like an original cross to me.
The frame looks like it could be a Steinhauer and Luck frame.
S&L delivered to over 20 different manufacturers so It would be difficult to pin down who made your cross in my opinion.
I do see a couple of stamping pellets on the bottom of the 8 on reverse it may be worth trying to track down the core maker of that example.

Everyone defines "rarely" differently. If I look at the relevant Militaria dealer websites, you can buy entire boxes of red ribbons from a number of them. I've never seen boxes full of orange ribbons. Especially since there are also very early pieces that don't have orange ribbons.
