Eisernes Kreuz - L59 marked, authentic?

I would really appreciate your opinions on this one please.
Its marked L59 sideways on the back. It looks okay to me when comparing on the EK1 DNA website..

I have noticed on the photos that there are some "white-like" areas on the corners of the core and on the frame , and also around the date. Any idea what that might be from?

Might the white on frame still be frosting left, and the "whiter areas" around the date simply be lost paint from the core.
