Controversial to some, my understanding is that they showed up in a bunch from the Alsace France area after the war. No other maker with a number anywhere near this high.
I would not purchase one due to the doubt.

The one ( PIC ) I witnessed ... The top of the cross where the ring attaches was "WAY OFF CENTER" Just my two cents... G
