So happy this one was offered to me this week — totally unexpected!
Thanks to Nick for the offer, and thank you, Ben, for connecting me!

I don't think both gentlemen are members over here, but I do not want to show off like: 'Look what I hunted down!' Simply good collecting friends/guys helping a poor and lonesome EK collector. How good is that?
This one was on my want list for quite some time. Several Variant 8's are to be found when entering a Google search, but I only kept finding old offers, sold long ago.

At last I can examine one in hand!
Not the best pictures, but I hope you get the idea.
Also not the most handsome cross, but an absolute beauty in its own rare way! Just like me, by the way!

Variant 8 is the former term for this cross. According to current knowledge, the manufacturer is Assmann & Söhne (PKZ 35). A very characteristic cross available in two frame variants.

Thanks, Robert! So I can safely call it an Assmann without being accused of spreading rumors and fake news. Off to find an Assmann issue envelope to compile a set! Not an easy quest, but not impossible.
