Re: Spange to the EK1 - real or replica
I would say this is a replica, lets see what the others think first though.

Re: Spange to the EK1 - real or replica
I think that may be a Floch fake, rounded eagles head, flat chest feathers, AND marked with L21.
Not one I would like to own

Re: Spange to the EK1 - real or replica
This is what I figured. Thanks for the input, I'll have to find a suitable end for this piece to prevent it from surfacing elswhere.

Re: Spange to the EK1 - real or replica
If it's the same as an item from Snyders then i'd be very suspicious, sorry.

Re: Spange to the EK1 - real or replica
Unfortunatley Snyders is know for selling fakes! I would advise extreme caution before purchasing anything from them

Re: Spange to the EK1 - real or replica
I used to own one of these.
The above example is a definite fake..............!

Re: Spange to the EK1 - real or replica
I did not realise that Snyders had a reputation! Like whats been said already, people use that site as a reference for their items. It goes to show that you cannot beat a good reference book and the knowledge of fellow collectors!
An easy starting point would e to check the manufacturers code. L/21 did not produce this clasp. Armed with this knowledge, you can walk away immediately. I find it useful to have a notebook with me when looking around that has info like this in it.
