Value please of Eisernes Kreuz 2nd class.
Hi guys i was wondering if someone could help me quickly.
I have a chance of buying a 2nd class iron cross original without its ribbon and its split into 3 parts.
I don’t know the maker yet because i’ve only seen pictures.
Will i be able to fix it and how much do you think its worth, they want £40 for it.
Any help please im new at this.
regards
Rod

Re: value please of iron cross 2nd class
hi rod , save your money , would cost more to repair . you should be able to pick up a undamaged example for around £80 or less if you search around, try the for sale section of the forum ....cheers paul

Thanks Paul
That information will help me sleep tonight instead of wondering what to do.
They also had a badly chipped bronze mothers cross they want £60 in total for them both.

Re: Value please of Eisernes Kreuz 2nd class.
I would also happily buy an EK2 if it had been split into it's component parts. I would prefer it if all the parts belong together and aren't made up of parts from different crosses but as mentioned, an interesting display item to show how they were put together.
£40 would be the top end of what I would pay though and would try and bring the price down if possible.
How badly chipped is the Mutterkreuz? If it's too bad I would rather spend a bit more and get one in excellent condition. They can be found very easily and for not much more than the £20 the seller wants for a chipped example.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

Re: value please of iron cross 2nd class
Im rubbish with computers i don’t know how to transfer photos from my emails to the forum sorry.
Also i can see that its split but don’t know if its completely split into its three components.
I will let the guy read this thread and see if he offers a better deal.
Thanks again everyone.
