Hi, there was actually 6 Victoria Crosses earned in the early hours of 6am today on the Gallipoli landings. All six were awarded to the 1st Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers that landed on the cove area. Not sure if any ANZACS were awarded. This is just for one Battalion.
The Honoured are....
Major Cuthbert Bromley ( wounded )
captain Richard Willis. ( Heroics )
Sargent Alfred Richards ( maimed )
Sargent Frank Stubbs ( shot dead )
Cpl John Grimshaw ( under fire )
Cpl William Keneally ( cutting barbed wire )
All six VCs are to be displayed in an exhibition at the Fusilier Museum in Bury from yesterday.
