What a fantastic restoration project, most of the parts are there even the majority of engine components, its a shame its so far away and the shipping would be so costly

The only other original LRDG vehicle is in the Imperial War Museum !!

Howdy Nuno,
Great post mate! The truck is a Ford F30. With it's 4-wheel drive and high ground clearance, the Ford F30 seemed to be an obvious choice as a patrol truck; however, the additional weight of the 4-wheel drive and the high fuel consumption (about twice that of the Chevrolet trucks) caused many problems with these vehicles. As it turned out, the Ford engine was very susceptible to sand and the trucks started to require insane amounts of oil after a relatively short time of duty, more and more Fords had to be abandoned until finally all the remaining F30's were replaced with Chevy 30cwts in March 1942. One of these is as Paul said, on display at the IWM.
LRDG's Fords usually had the hood and cab removed for better cooling, the condenser was mounted on the running board. Below is a picture of a restored F30, to show what this desert ghost once looked like.

A great thing to see, just a shame he let his children climb all over it, but maybe I'm just being a boring old fart. I've seen the one in Imp War Museum, which was brought back from the desert.
