    Hi Ade,
It is about time they laid the remains to rest it has been to long
to hold on to them. I saw a documenary about how many German soldiers remains were housed in store in a warehouse,
It was full to the roof with bags of remains.
At least this will bring closure to some of the families.

I found out last June that my grandfather (Oberleutnant) has been re-interred in Besedino. He fell in June 1942 near to Voronezh. We have always had photos of the grave as it was when he was originally buried and never knew what became of the grave. The wehrmacht tended hide the cemeteries in order to hide casualty numbers. And the russians had no reason to maintain them.

The German war graves commission was fantastic in being able to notify us of the graves new location. It was fantastic news for my father who was only 3 when he lost his father.

    Hi Striker,
sorry i dont know the name or title of the documentary, it was just that i was flicking through the channels and found it. I was very surprised to see how many remains they had kept all those years,
but thinking about how the russians were back then ( the cold war)
it was of no surprise. There were thousends of bags with remains of german soldiers in them. But thank god the world is changing and some of the soldiers can now rest in peace, it,s been long time coming.
    Dave.
