Here we have some pictures from my trip to Normandy in 1992. This was way before Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers. It was very quiet, hardly any tourists. The pictures were taken from an old VHS cassette hence not the greatest quality, but still one can see the transformation to what it looks like to today.

The last 2 pics are from La Combe, German cemetary, the previous ones from St Mere Eglise. Port en Bessin is the one with the house front reading Ouistreham. That was painted on for the movie The Longest Day, where Port en Bessin doubled for Ouistreham..

You added some more pics ! Thought that was Port en Bessin, I stayed their twice whilst visiting the surrounding area, yes Port en Bessin doubled as Ouistreham in the Longest Day, as your photo shows, great pictures !

Great to see Normandy photos from 30 years ago , how things have changed in that time .

Thanks for posting. Great taking a look.
I went in the late fall of 2002. I took a mixture of film and digital photos but unfortunately my digital ones have been lost.

I went for the 45th Anniversary in 1989. I think the photos I took should be at my Dad's. I will have to find them.
