Thanks toot. It’s just south of Wilmington, NC on an outlet of the Cape Fear River to the Atlantic. There isn’t much of it left. Pictures pretty much show it all. During the Civil War Wilmington was the only Confederate port that remained open from Union blockade. The fort eventually fell in 1865. The Second Battle of Fort Fisher, which ultimately lead to its demise, has been called “the most decisive battle in North Carolina during the Civil War”, and was the only battle that the USMC played a major part in during the war between the states.

08smle48, thanks for the history lesion. odd that it was the only one to stay open during the entire ware? still it is a preserved piece of our history.
