Hi

All our countrys have different types of military fortifications, due to history and culture.
So, lets see them, post your local or national military fortifications.

Lets start with the north of Portugal
The main tower of Guarda castle, built in the XII century, this tower is one of last remains of the castle.

Still up north, this one is the castle of Sabugal.
Was built in 1296 and by 1811 served as a support base during the third French invasion.

There are a lot of castles and such here in Ireland.

Here is something a bit different near me in Co.Kerry, Ireland. Skellig Michael, a Christian monastery that was founded on the island at some point between the 6th and 8th century, and was continuously occupied until its abandonment in the late 12th century.
