All photos were made near the Strandweg in Scheveningen again, the monument visible in all pics is the memorial for King Willem I.
Some bunkers already existed and were made during WW1 or just before WW2 by the Dutch military, and these were later incorporated in the German defences. A while ago one of those original bunkers was excavated and transported to the Regimental Museum of the Engineers Regiment in Vught, where it is on display. Unfortunately it couldn't remain at its original location due to construction work, so that was a good solution.
I think I prefer the bunker to the dreadful steel motorcycle shed!
So do I... All pics taken on the Strandweg and near the entrance of the port again. Quite a few of the bunkers have been removed; there are still plenty left but most have been hidden from sight. Scheveningen was not just part of the Atlantikwall, but also part of the Stutzpunktgruppe Den Haag.
The Scheveningen Kurhaus... Note the shop facades painted on the anti-tank wall.
