When seeing these pics, I cant help thinking of the logisitcs involved; all that gear and man power tied up in fortifications in many countries, while waging an all out war - what a drain on resources it must have been on top of everything else.

Excellent post poele, some fine images there. I admired the typical German efficiency displayed in the photograph of the observation post, with aircraft identification charts around the windows. Simple, yet very effective. Thank you for posting.
