Article about: Hi Guys, I hear this patch should be post WW2 because the rifle has no white in the but-stock and the lines of the parachute are not double. This is the first and only one I have ever held.

Default 508 PIR patch - WW2 or after

    Hi Guys,

I hear this patch should be post WW2 because the rifle has no white in the but-stock and the lines of the parachute are not double. This is the first and only one I have ever held. So I was wondering. Is it WW2 or post WW2? It does pass the blacklight test and the edge looks to be not a modern piece.. All info would be very much apriciated!

I believe this variation of the 508th pocket patch was worn in the 50's and 60's. Heres a link to the US Military Forum of a thread showing your patch.

This is one of the earlier ones, but is still post ww2. Most likely some time from 1946-to the early 50s. I would say this would be on the earlier end since it is blackback. Not a common variation to find.
