Picked up this Denison smock with other items from the family or a guy who was a Lt Col on leaving the army , The label has been removed but has the Z stamp with the WD which i think is from 1945

Looks good.
If that was his surname and you know what "Cap badge" he was then having been a Lt Col it shouldn't be too difficult to research him.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing he cares more about than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature with no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
Hi Mark , I found one photo online of him from the medal ribbons on his other uniforms he served in ww2 and was also in the TA.
So, Royal Highland Fusiliers and that late pattern Service Dress jacket suggest he must have served into the late '60s and maybe even '70s. I would definitely try the RHF museum in Glasgow The Royal Highland Fusiliers Museum Glasgow there is a small charge for research enquiries but I think it would be well worth it. By the way Jardines is a regimental tailor of some standing amongst Scots units.
Let us know how you gat on.

PS Did you get anything else? The first pic looks like you did!

That's a nice little lot to have, and well worth the effort of further research.
Cheers,
Steve
Here are some other items that came with the Denison
