    You will need to post more images for a proper assessment but in these two the leather patch over the vent grommets seems to be much newer than the rest of the beret. It could be the picture of course but it makes me suspicious and is why more images are needed.

    Well good all covering pics are essential and these do make it look a lot better. The leather patch is clearly not as new as it looked in the first picture and I do think this is a wartime,probably Kangol beret although I do not claim to be expert in WWII berets so wait for other opinions.

    The residual badge outline makes one thing certain. It was not a Parachute Regiment badge that lived here! That curved mark at the bottom and it's relative shape and distance from the hole made by the shank would lead wishful thinking towards Ox & Bucks LI (D Coy of Pegasus Bridge fame) but there are other possibilities and comparison to actual badges would likely help.

    As I say, from the pics I quite like this one but see what the beret "specialists" say.

    Thank you I've been after one for a few years now it was in a box of hats I won on auction.

    Just looking at beret again where badge was. It definitely matches ox and bucks badge the only thing didn't they have a green felt backing cloth ?
