Plane part, what do you know about?

Article about: hello to you forum members. i would like to ask, if you know such a plane part (aluminium) like this? does it belong to a B-17? where was its place at the plane? THANK YOU for help

    i do not know absolutly for sure if its off a plane, but there are compelling reasons in its background that it is part of a B-17.
    To make sure and to find out, which part of the plahe it is, i came to this forum.

    if not claer enough on the pics, the flat sides and rounding off are painted with mat black colour.

    Try opening the curtains next time you take photo's. It helps, really.

    ..there appears to be a textile / cloth imprint or even attached to the metal.....or is that my eyes playing tricks????

    ...mate, never let it be said that you don't stick with something and see it through......after all it's a whole 3.75 hours since his last post :-)

    may be imprint, there is nothing attached to the piece. it is pure metal.

    solving the riddle would be marvellous.

    this part, found 2 weeks ago, belongs to a friend of mine, 72 year old lady, whose uncle bailed out of the b-17 just before it crashed in 1945.
