the "Sterling" markings are really nice on yours.
It is original right???
these have been confirmed as real with its pin being replaced most likely due to the original being broken.
Cool! Maybe replaced because of another drunkin night at a dining in?
could be a possibility
Hi, Nick ! ........... Nice little wings !
The catch with missing roller is brass or bronze, and so too is the pin. Early WWII American
'Sterling' insignia sometimes have these fittings, so the pin may be original .........?
I've seen quite a few US badges where common 'sewing pins' have been bent and fashioned
into a replacement or to hold a pin in place on the mounting hardware.
Airborne wings are highly sought after on E-Bay I've noticed, and don't go very cheaply
most of the time. It's great to hear you got a good deal on an original !
It looks as though someone has punched initials or a design into the back of these........!
Regards,
Steve.
cheers steve
for £14 they were more then bargain they were a steal
as for the punch marks its been suggested they may have been a drinks game indicator or maybe how many jumps they made but i guess i'll never know
