Article about: by Darren Lillington Not a fan of the mustang with its pot belly and lines, just my opinion though but in many repects a great plane. Just not my cup of tea. Well, you know what they say,..Je

This one gets my vote for best looking piston engine fighter of WW2. And it was no slouch in battle either.

There have been over 500 views of this picture and nobody has disputed my claim, so I guess I win by default.

I say P-47 Thunderbolt! She looked mean, was mean and effective, was harder to take down then either Mustang or Spit and could survive intense punishment. Danny

Well just to court controvesy, my vote's going to the Hurricane, not as sturdy, may be not as fast but a butt kicker all the same.

I would have to vote for the spitfire. The spit and mustang are very different aircraft even though they have the same engine. The spit is a thorough bred interceptor and the mustang was designed to escort bombers.

The German nickname was Hure Kahn, look that one up in your German dictionary.

I must admit the Spit has a certain appeal to it, it`s a long lean killing machine, anyone (besides Ade the expert ) care to guess which mark of Spit this is?
