    Default Stuka and Spitfire together?

I'm assuming that the aircraft in the photo are a Ju 87 and a Super Marine Spitfire. It's interesting that they are parked next to each other in the desert. Additionally, under the wing of the Stuka there appears to be a U.S. star marking. Am I way off base here?

Hi Kevin, you are correct on all counts.

Where it was taken I don't know for sure, but I suspect North Africa?

    Cheers, Ade.

Interesting pics. It's tantalising that the angles don't show any definite squadron markings etc. The Spitfire is a Mk. Vb with Vokes filter which certainly indicates North African theatre.
An example is the Ju87D captured by 601 Squadron at Hazbub Main in March 1943 but it would be pure guesswork to say 'this is the one'. Certainly not many Stukas were captured intact ( the above info is taken from Butler's 'War Prizes' ( Midland Counties 1994 ).

There is also a Lancaster in the back ground.

My enlagement is blurry but if you enlarge the original posted picture,
you can make out the 4 engines, upper turret and twin stabilizers.

Such a weird combo of air power! It is awesome to see though.

Very interesting picture, leaves more questions than answers.

What's a Lanc' doing in Africa?

I don’t think it’s a Lancaster. The turret looks too far forward. My bet is on a B24 liberator
