Happy New Year, gents and ladies! So I was doing some cleaning out of the hobby room, and found this badge in a drawer of other misc. things. I remember buying this as part of a lot a couple of years ago, and the gentleman told me he thought this to be a fake, so I could just have it. I dropped in the drawer and forgot about it.

Looking at it again, I think it could be a round-hinge unmarked Rudolf Karneth. What threw me at the initial glance (and probably the previous owner, too) is the fact that some of the details aren't as well defined as other badges I own, and also the sort of wobbly, mis-shapen bayonet blade.

I can still see silver remnants in many of the areas of the badge, so that's another indicator that it very well may be a genuine badge - just not the nicest looking example.

So what do you think - good, unmarked R. Karneth ugly duckling, or junk? The first two shots are the same badge, just under different lighting. Thanks a million, as always.

I have, and a few things like the crooked bayonet blade, the way the ball-hinge is mounted (crimped?), and the sort of undefined adler face still threw me off. Thanks for having a look, and I'm leaning towards your opinion as well. I think it has a chance.

    Thanks again.

Agreed, an original from a Gablonz maker thought to be Karneth.

Thank you, Adrian. I'm glad I posted it and decided to have a second look before relegating it to the junk pile!
