Sorry mate, I didn't see any RNZAF stuff.

    Hey Danger,
The .50 call's you found are: the 2 with single rim are AP rounds(black tip) the one with a double rim, still attached to a part of the cartridge is an INCENDIARY round(blue tip).
    Be carefull with them.

    Cheers,
    Steven

Mate great stuff, what a place, would love to get up there one day.
Our bomber squadrons used Bomber 1 and the RNZAF support and engineering facilities were nearby
The strip your standing on looks a little like Palikulo (bomber 1) , the RNZAF fighters strip. there is a Hudson in deep water off there as well as a Complete Corsair in the sheltered lagoon to the Nth of the field Both RNZAF there is also posed to be a very smashed up NZ P40 up at Turtel bay strip further up the coast. but other than that there should be loads of American aircraft dotted all over that rock.
inclosed is a pic of a USN Corsiar that ditched off Efates in 43

Hey guys new member old thread but as this is the thread that drew me here I thought this is where I would start.

I too went to Santo (under the guise of afamily holiday) it was a great relic HHunter holiday. I'll post some pics when I log on from a computer.
If you guys are still around- did you go to aore island? If you search up the back there are hidden ammo dumps everywhere!

Hey!! I have been away a long time.
9 months after this trip my son was born........my free tie took a direct hit and i have been a bit busy.
I only went to Santo and port Villa.
I have been on a few trips since, back to china and picked up some more stuff. pistol holster etc...
my next trip is to Gallipoli for the 100 year 2015 ANZAC day service.
I will be going to all the battle fields and will see if i can find some old bullets in the sand....
