Like most people I’ve dug up loads of tin cans. Some are obviously DDR (useful having an Ostdeutsch girlfriend to recognise some). But I’m sure some may be Wehrmacht. Am I correct in thinking that they are unlikely to have stamps? If so, any tips on identifying WW2 era tins?
    Thanks

Are you talking those oval fish cans??? if so, I've never seen any ( probably were on a long disappeared paper label )

The link below is to a living history page, but it shows some original Wehrmacht tins. The oval fish tins "Fischkonserve" were part of the iron ration and these are usually marked.

Indeed they are often marked with short manufacturer codes, sometimes also dates. I've shown a few examples here: Exploring the Arctic battlefields of northern Finland

Jim Pool's "Rations of the German Wehrmacht in World War II" includes quite a few of these as well - unfortunately I don't have the book myself.

So here is one with a stamp. I think it’s NEB. Any ideas?

NEB was Maschinenfabrik u Eisengieberei Karl Schaefer of Koslin in Pommeria.
