Mg42. 1942.
The story of how I managed to find the machine gun is quite standard for many who are engaged in the detection of metals. One sunny day I went to the battlefield of World War II, after searching with a metal detector, I managed to find the legendary MG 42 machine gun at the bottom of the trench. In this place, the troops that took part in the battles for Minsk retreated
Having removed the relic of the Second World War from the ground, I was able to inspect and understand that the condition is very bad, the weapon is very badly destroyed by rust. Anyone looking for metal with a metal detector knows that it is very difficult now to find any find from the Second World War in very good condition, or at least just good.
A very interesting relic, and perhaps not as bad as you make it out to be. I have seen much worse than that. Thanks for showing.

Nowhere near as bad as most of the relics I’ve seen. Has the first pattern cocking handle, too. Looks like it was broken in two by an explosion?

Friends, this MG42 machine gun has a 654 series! This is a very rare machine gun, it is still a prototype and produced in 1942. I started to restore it. Now I'll tell you how I did it.
I cut the old receiver into pieces. Remove damaged pieces of metal. A Soviet artillery mine worked here in 1944
I bought what I was missing .. MG42 coupling MG42 flame arrester. This is what I need.
I need a donor for the new MG42 body. I am very sorry for them. But they are not perfect, and also deformed!
