Any ideas?

Hi All,

I just picked this up from an antiques fair but I have no real idea what it is.

The seller says it was possibly a car hood ornament which looks possible due to the threaded bits.

Its not much bigger than a merit badge

Oh the lure of the Swastika.....

Doubt it is a hood ornament. Maybe something for a desk display.

But I'm not convinced of its legitimacy. And the threads don't look real.

Alas, these are just my opinions as I have never seen one

Not really the lure of the swastika as it came in with the a merit badge I bought off him so a small job lot. It does display well so not too worried if it's genuine or not.
Im just curious if it is real, what it may be.

Could this possibly be made for use on a bicycle?

Guess there are no maker marks etc? Are the threads metric ? Looks to new for me probably a post 45 item.

The "threads" do not appear to be properly formed. They look far too rounded. I would lean toward fantasy piece.

I said the same thing about the threads above...LoL.

But, take a step back and let's think: Is it really a "fantasy" piece? Why would someone create a stand alone part? So in and of itself, it is not a fantasy item. Only if we were to know what it was part of could we determine if it is Fantasy (I.e. never existed), Repro or....original.

But I certainly don't have a good feeling that it is original.

Sadly no marks etc.

The threads do look rather crude but it if they were made to be hidden under a block or something would they be perfect. As I know little about such things I genuinely would be interested. Also if it was made but never screwed to anything then the threads wouldnt be worn. I will find out if the threads are metric later today if I can find a nut for it.

Many thanks for everyone's opinions as its still an enigma.
If it is a fantasy item why would it have been made and why only one (so far). Also if its fake, what's the point faking it as its not valuable.

Maybe its a modern piece for a modern supporter?

All Im concerned with is it came from a reputable dealer with my genuine merit badge. He never claimed it to be a genuine article, more a curiosity

So please keep any ideas coming
