I have always believed that these are fantasy pieces as well. Goering would have probably personally beaten anyone who wanted to use the symbol of the Luftwaffe to hold cigarette ashes. It also looks somewhat crude. Even if it was original, it should not be worth anywhere near an original helmet. If I were you I would go get the helmet back!
